There was no joy for our Valley District Open Women, who came up short against Mudgeeraba Nerang DCC at Alan Nielsen Park 1 (Corbwood No 1).
Mudgeeraba Nerang DCC batted first and reached 5/156 from 35 overs. Our opponents' best was a half-century from Koa Burford, who made 55 not out. Clare Daley was the pick of the bowlers, taking two for 17 off six overs.
Needing 157 to win, we finished on 7/90 from 35 overs. The top score came from Claire Schiller, who made 26 off 42 balls. For the hosts, Eleena Sandhu took four for 8 off six overs.
We'll take the lessons from this one and go again. The team will be keen to turn things around after three straight losses. Credit to our opponents, and well played.
