In Mens Competitions, our Valley Mens 1st Grade proved too strong for South Brisbane Mens 1st Grade thanks to Max Bryant's 81.
South Brisbane Mens 1st Grade batted first and put 9/276 on the board from 50 overs. Fifty for Lucky Peterson, who made 81 for the hosts. Hugh Weibgen grabbed three for 53. Cameron Boyce chipped in with two for 36.
In reply, the side reached the target at 9/278 in 43.5 overs. Max Bryant posted a half-century, making 81 off 59 balls with seven fours and five sixes. Weibgen brought up a classy half-century, finishing with 63 off 35 balls. A five-wicket haul to Edward Leslie for our opponents (five for 34).
It went right down to the wire, but the boys got the job done. The first win of the season is in the bank. A terrific effort from the side.
