Saturday didn't go our way, as our Valley Mens 5th Grade had to give best to South Brisbane Mens 5th Grade on a frustrating day.
South Brisbane Mens 5th Grade made 10/166 and 5/247, and we made 10/41 and 5/138. Fifty for Tristan Tinetti, who finished with 67 off 59 balls. There were also handy runs from Scott Read (35). Daniel Furby bowled cleverly for the hosts, a nine-wicket haul of nine for 22.
Thomas Stannard tore through the batting order, taking five for 37. Callum Lawn weighed in with three for 23 off sixteen overs. Our opponents' best was a half-century from Rory Gibbs, who made 89. Credit to Dylan Vanniasinghe, who made a half-century (60) for the hosts.
Plenty to take out of this one.
The boys will be keen to turn things around after three straight losses. Well played to our opponents.
